4 out of 5 stars Relaible and durable   July 13, 2010

For quite a sometime my husband wanted a G-Shock watch which he could use without worrying about scratches or stains. Thankfully i came across this watch and gifted it to him. His smile said how much liked this gift and now needs a reason to take it off from his hand. He emphasizes about its quality and longevity.

Hope everyone also likes this watch.

5 out of 5 stars Casio G-Shock   May 7, 2010

I purchased the G-Shock as a gift for my son who is a big believer in punctuality. The watch is accurate to 5 seconds a month in my experience. He set his to my Casio Pathfinder which syncs with the Atomic Clock and was one second off after 3 weeks. I think that speaks to the accuracy.A good watch especially for the money.

3 out of 5 stars Not a "Classic" G-Shock   April 28, 2010

I've been a fan of G-Shocks for years. I've worn them and given them as gifts and loved them for their rugged durability and their utility. I've been wearing a fancy watch for the last seven years but when the post holding on the strap popped out I finally decided to go back to a G-Shock. I decided to treat myself and order a new one.

I was originally going to go for the $34 one but it had a bunch of bad reviews so I opted for the DW6900. It certainly isn't "classic".

First, it feels cheap and flimsy. Time will tell how it holds up. But my previous two G-Shocks definitely felt sturdier. I even ran over one with an Isuzu Trooper and it still kept going without missing a beat. I don't think this one would pass that test.

Also when adjusting the time I can only advance the time and roll it back. It's a inconvience and the old G-Shocks used to be able to do this and for less money than this one.

I hope this at leasts last a while.

5 out of 5 stars The perfect balance between cost, function, and durability.   April 28, 2010

This is an excellent watch. I can tell you that quite a few servicemembers choose G-shocks, especially this one, as their watch for deployment. I took this very model to Iraq and then Afghanistan (with a trip to Hawaii in between) and it performed flawlessly.

PROS:
Comfortable, durable band - plastic is surprisingly sturdy
Alarm loud enough to wake me up
Easy to find light button
Has all the necessary functions - without the flashy stuff you know you'll never need anyways
Crystal face is shielded by the casing - very scratch resistant material and shielding protects it well
Very waterproof. I've had it down to 50ft underwater, and I wear it regularly in the shower - never any fog or condensation inside
For how long I've had it (almost 2 years now), the casing and the band have no scratching, cracking, or visible wear and tear - and trust me, I have been rough with it.

CONS:
The only thing is the "ADJUST" button. I wish it wern't recessed into the casing so that I could adjust the alarm easier, but this is a personal preference rather than a design/manufacturing flaw.

Again, I highly recommend this watch. It sits at the perfect line between cost and durability. It's not so expensive that I'd be afraid to put it to the test, yet the quality and durability is far superior to watches that cost far more.

5 out of 5 stars Built like a tank   April 9, 2010
Nate N. (St. Louis Metro area, USA)
I received my DW6900 and am very, very pleased. It is solid as a rock and built like a tank. It is a very durable and highly wearable watch. I had considered buying the GW69000 but went with the more economical version and am not disappointed.
